The Honest Dog
This past Sunday, Mark and I were walking Zoey and Rhyn. When I walk the dogs, I go slow, because it's all about the 'sniffing' for me; I enjoy watching the dogs get their 'sniff' on ... Mark likes to do cardio, and yes, the dogs enjoy that too, but with me? We get some good sniffs in and I get to really pay attention to my surroundings. Zoey and Rhyn had their noses buried in the boulevard grass in front of a house for so long that when the elderly resident stepped out, she stopped and looked, too. Then she commented "What are they sniffing? Is there something there?" and I said "No, ma'am, they are just reading the earth, like dogs do. Some bit of good data crunched down in that grassy substrate just giving up every bit of information you could imagine.
At least that's 'us', the human factor. We 'imagine' - the dogs 'know'.
